Beef Up Your Resume With an Internship
Thanks to the job market, college students, are now finding that having the upper hand during job selections, involves holding an internship.
Stephanie Tucker, a junior writing major, and student attending Loyola College in Maryland is currently interning at Baltimore magazine. This is her first internship, and she has her sights set on another one soon.
“I am thinking about trying for something next Spring, Lord willing,” said Stephanie.
The hands on experience is not only helping her with her studies at school, but she’s becoming an asset to her editor at her internship.
“It’s helped me be more succinct in my writing, and also more accepting of criticism,” said Stephanie
Setting yourself apart with an internship, is a characterist potential employers look for. Students shouldn’t relay on grades alone, real world experience is what employers want to see in applicants.
“Internships are critical,” said Towson University professor Sandy Nichols. “They’re one of the most critical things of a college education.”
The search for an internship is a tedious one but stand out among the number of others apply to the same one. Be sure to know the company and it’s history, and have all documents—cover letter, and resume—look professional.
Melany, good job finding someone who really understands the importance of an internship. You were able to gather some pretty significant quotes from a Prof. and from a student. From someone who has participated in many internships over the last few years, I really appreciate the importance and appreciate someone doing some digging to grab more information. Keep up the good work.

Good interview. I like how you got two different people in here, because it adds to the point you’re trying to make. Internships are important, that’s common sense, but it seems like you are making an effort to portray that in a more interesting way for your project. You need to continue to come up with interesting ways to show how important internships really are besides just stating how they will help you get a job after college.
